Project 4
WIRB (now WCG IRB) guides medical research and testing. The purpose of the project was to consolidate operations within the region into a single location for efficiency as well as align the facilities with the company brand and culture. A former microchip manufacturing building was selected as the ideal site given the large continuous floor plate and picturesque, wooded site.
The design reflects careful study of employee work styles and rebranding of the company. The front door features a large conference center where visiting client teams come to work. WIRB teams encircle a centralized work lounge where they come to meet, dine, and socialize. In recognition of the company’s business, images commonly seen under a research microscope became murals on display throughout the building.
